Our IMF Membership

As one of the leading electroplaters serving clients across the South including London, Hampshire and Dorset, we have to make sure that we are kept up to date with all the changes that happen within the metal finishing industry. That’s why we touch base with the Institute of Materials Finishing (IMF)imf_logo_rgbs, to make sure that we know what’s happening in the metal finishing world.

History of the IMF

Founded in 1925 then as the Electroplaters and Depositors Technical Society, the IMF represents finishing professionals across the UK. Its original purpose was to distribute any technical information on electrodeposition (now called electroplating) through industry publications, meetings and conferences.

The IMF has come a long way in 90 years and has expanded in to all aspects and technologies related to surface finishing and has even increased its scope beyond metal finishing. Now the IMF covers surface engineering, anodising, printed circuitry and more.

IMF Certification

Some of our technicians are trained with the IMF, which requires them to complete the Surface Finishing Foundation Certificate.

We’re very proud of all of the people that work with us at Dorsetware and we have over 45 years’ experience in the field of metal finishing.

If you have a metal finishing or metal plating project that you’d like some advice on we’d be happy to take a look at it. Call us on 01202 677 939 to talk to a member of our team about our range of services or alternatively you can fill in our contact form.
