As one of the leading plating and metal finishing companies in Dorset, it is important that we remain up to date with all of the latest news and legislation both on a national and EU level. To achieve this, Dorsetware Ltd is a proud member of the Surface Engineering Association (SEA).
Founded in 1887, the SEA is an industry trade association, which acts as the umbrella organisation that represents the Metal Finishing Association (MFA), the British Surface Treatment Suppliers Association (BSTSA), the Wolfson Heat Treatment Centre, the Paint and Powder Finishing Association (PPFA) and the Contract Heat Treatment Association (CHTA). All of these associations provide links with government, health, safety and environmental specialists, other trade associations and academic institutions.
The mission of the SEA is “to promote and protect the growth of British surface engineering industries”, and as an industry trade association the SEA delivers a range of services to its members. It provides information and advice on a range of topics from health and safety to the latest news across the industry. This includes informing members of the latest changes to both UK and EU legislations. Every quarter we receive a newsletter and a copy of Environmental Watchword Magazine, which is packed with information and updates relevant to our industry. It is our membership with the SEA that allows Dorsetware to be the most up to date in the metal finishing industry.
The SEA also represents members and acts as the voice of the metal finishing industry on issues both large and small on a national and EU level. This is particularly relevant when legislation or standards and codes of practice are developed as they can impact businesses significantly.
